4A great accessory for imaginative playJul 09, 2009
By Z Hayes
I recently purchased a Melissa and Doug Deluxe Princess Castle for my 4.5-year-old preschooler as she loves stories about castles, princesses, dragons and knights. The castle was awesome [I have posted a video review of it] and I decided to get a couple of accessories to go with it. The catapult by Schleich was a delightful surprise. I expected a little miniature catapult, but this is nice-sized and fun to play with. I do agree that the mechanics of the catapult is not 100% impressive, one does have to find a projectile to place in the catapult and manually flick it, but other than that it does work well. I plan to get a couple of other accessories to go with the green dragon, knight, and Feya the fairy which I also purchased. The Schleich line of fantasy figures makes for great imaginative play. Now, my little one can actually 'live' the stories and not just read about them or view the stories on screen.

4Schleich catapultSep 29, 2008
By S. Ramiscal
This toy is wonderful and educational. I purchased it along with the Schleich castle. My five year old son and 8 year old daughter both enjoy launching plastic stones and other small items with the catapult. I have participated in the fun as well :). It arrived in perfect condition and actually arrived a day earlier than the estimated arrival date. It is a great toy for children who have an interest in knights, castles, etc.

4Looks great, but could work better.Dec 28, 2006

Got this to go with my son's Schleich castle. It looks great, and rolls fine. My complaint is that you have to flip the weighted end to get your projectiles (not included) to fly. I confess no knowledge of catapult mechanics, but it seems if this one was weighted a little better, it might make for more realistic battle action.

That said, my son adores his castle, loves staging battles between armies, will save his sister's princess dolls from the dragon (and a Papo ogre), and it continues to inspire intensive, detailed, fantasy play. The catapult makes a near-perfect addition to the Schleich World of Knights.

3Good addition to knight seriesDec 29, 2011
By Barry Richard "Rico"
The catapult from Schleich is a good addition if your child has the Knight series. It is well crafted and seems durable. My son really enjoys his knights and the catapult gives him more scenarios to play with. It doesnt have a rubber band or anything that would allow the catapult to throw things automatically so you have to flip things manually.

5I can't say enough for the Schleich toysDec 29, 2011
By Befragt
I bought a variety of Schliech knights for my son, and some unicorns and related other toys for my youngest daughter, and I must admit that they have all exceeded my expectations.

My first priority in buying a toy for my kids is durability. Schleich calls its toys "plastic" - I'd rather call them "resin." These aren't some flimsy hollow things - the catapult is solid, strong, and relatively heavy. It's already fought in a number of battles, been mauled by one of our dogs, and been "destroyed" in combat by various heavy objects, but it still looks brand new. I have few doubts that it will last until my son outgrows it.

Like all Schleich toys, the catapult is also tremendously detailed. You can see the wood grain, metal straps and individual rivets. The counterweight is just heavier than the throwing arm, meaning that if you put anything in the basket, it tips down easily.

The only strike I have against this toy is that it didn't include a couple throwing rocks, although I do understand that providing projectiles could result in liability as they might present choking hazards or result in damage to a kid, so I really can't downgrade the catapult for that.

In all, although the catapult is a bit expensive, it's well worth the money. My son has taken his Schleich toys to bed with him each night, and for me, that makes them well worth the money.
