5a great cooperative gameFeb 24, 2010
A friend of mine pulled out this game when we were visiting. I loved it! It's thoughtful (without being so much work you are not enjoying it anymore) and cooperative (so you are actually having fun together!). Yet it's still challenging and keeps you very engaged. I'm definitely going to buy the game for myself - haven't enjoyed a board game this much in a long time. Also, I thought the rules were pretty easy to follow, at least in contrast to typical strategy games that take many plays to just start truly following.

3More of a puzzle than a gameFeb 15, 2010
I purchased this game based on the excellent reviews it has garnered on amazon, and was unfortunately somewhat let down. Don't get me wrong, it's somewhat fun to play, and very unique in that everyone is working together on the same team, but once you realize that its more of a puzzle than a game, everything feels extremely limiting. What I mean by this is that you have to take into account that when you've set up the game, depending on how the deck is shuffled, you may or may not be able to finish ("win") the game, even if you make all the right moves. Let me rephrase this:

****** like Solitaire, skill alone is not enough win this game, the deck HAS to be shuffled such that the game is finishable, and you'll have no way of knowing this til the game is over ******

I found this aspect of Pandemic to be extremely frustrating, and any game affcionado would probably do well to take this into account when considering a purchase. That being said, it is still a fun concept, and with a little tweaking of the rules, could probably be made to be a lot of fun to play. As for me, I put my copy of this on ebay and haven't looked back.

5Great GameFeb 14, 2010
A very fun game were you work together to beat the game instead of each other. Several game modes are provied to introduce the game for begginers and can get harder as you get used to the game. The game actualy gets harder a big the more people you add. But thats to keep you on your toes and not just make it one sided. It's little more complex and can take a little bit of getting used to then a traditional game but it is deffinitly a great buy. It can be a great leason in team work since you don't compeat with the other players. Do yourself a favor and get the On The Brink expansion to add even more challagnes to the game. It's not required but can be added to the game with more advanced players.

5Pandemic is a surprisingly fun, addicting, team oriented game.Feb 12, 2010
I was not really interested in purchasing this game at first. My wife had been researching games and this was high on her list. We went with another game originally, but shortly after purchased this one anyway. This game won me over the first time we played it. You play cooperatively as a team, working together to beat the game. This unique feature really appeals to me, because my friends and I can be on the same team, instead of always trying to beat each other [we get competitive]. I also really like that you have to problem solve on the fly, because as the game progresses challenges arise that you may not be prepared for, so as a whole team you need to figure out how to deal with them. Another positive aspect to Pandemic is that it is difficult, and can be made even more so. You will not win every game. You may not even win most games. This type of challenge is honestly addicting. Every time we don't win, I can't wait to play again and try a different strategy. This game is both entertaining and challenging. I would highly recommend Pandemic to anyone looking for a fun, team oriented board game.

5Fantastic Team GameFeb 10, 2010
This is a fantastic team game. If you get tired of the competitiveness between players, this is a team game: everyone vs. the game. Note, if you can't handle not having an actual person to play against, this is not the game for you. The game ranges from being ridiculously easy to brutally difficult (you can change the level of difficulty).

Pros: Randomness mechanism is great (not dice) and makes sense with the game flow. Different dynamic than other board games (co-op vs. competitive). Games last less than an hour once you know how to play. Multiple difficulties to accommodate different players. Great family game.

Cons: Sometimes, the game seems to come down to luck more than strategy and skill. The highest difficulty is brutally difficult, seemingly impossible. Only 2-4 players. The expansion allows up to 5, but it would be a better party game if it allowed more players (and since it is already a team game, you can't really pair off people).
