4Not really a toy, but an awesome collector's item!Apr 11, 2009

This item is a great collector's item. Very detailed with some articulation. Very heavy resin material with detailed painting. Great item for a Gears of War fan, but limited value for anyone too young, or not a Gears fan. I bought this for my 11 yr old, because it he takes good care of his stuff, and because he's a Gears fan.

5Cool figureMar 26, 2009

This Cog soldier is really neat. I bought him for 25.00, for my son now that may seem like a lot for one figure, but compare to the anthony carmine figure, who is almost the same, well what do you want to pay 25.00 or 130.00 eh? He is cool comes with a sniper and is very neat over all, if your looking for a figure to buy get this one and my opinion the best locust figure is the cyclops cause he comes with ink, pistol, hammerburst and a diffrent pistol, the Cog Rule!

I have the Anthony Carmine figure as well and this Cog Soldier aka Ben Carmine figure is just as good but not as expensive for those that were late to the game. However, this one does not come with a Gnasher aka Shotgun, but does come with an awesome sniper rifle. His paint is a littler shinier and more metalic and he is also a little easier to move and pose. Simply put, series 3 contains some of the best gears of war figures and this is one of them.

5Definately a Collectors ItemDec 13, 2011

Strangely enough, although this figure is listed just as a COG soldier (Series 3), he is actually perfectly identical to Benjamin Carmine, the much loved brother of Anthony Carmine from Gears of War. Since there is no official "Benjamin Carmine" figurine, this is essentially him, so if you are looking for the second Carmine brother, this is he (not the series 6 COG soldier who has some subtle differences).

I'm a huge fan of Gears of War, and Neca do make some amazing figures. The appearance of the figurine is fantastic, very accurate to the game, right down to the satchels and pockets strapped all over Carmines body. The articulation is great and perfect for posing, and the weapons are interchangable amoung all figures showing a very clever design. Out of the box the figures joints are nice and stiff, requiring you to slowly limber them up with gradually bigger and bigger movements to get them moving properly. This shows majority of the joints are very resiliant and able to take a bit of force.

The figurine overall is pretty durable, however this figure does have a bit of a design flaw with the arms, that even when bought new can cause problems. At the elbow, the upper arm has a joint that swivels round allowing you to rotate the elbow horizontally. This joint then connects straight to the pivot of the elbow, allowing him to both extend/flex his arm and turn it across his chest or up in the air. The problem with this swivel joint connecting straight to the elbow pivot is that the plastic around the elbow pivot is pretty thin. This makes this joint especially susceptable to damage, even when still factory sealed. I have had 3 of these figures now brand new and 2 of them have had this joint sheered in half right out of the box. 1 of them had both arms broken in exactly the same way, but you couldn't actually tell without taking it out of the box.

I wouldn't let this disuade you however, its a fantastic collectable, especially if you intend to have it in the box unopened. If however you want one to pose/take outside of the box, I'd recommend getting a second hand one instead, that way you will know for sure that it is in one piece when you recieve it. Just make sure you don't put alot of force on that elbow :)

4Cool figure, lousy shipping method!!!Apr 22, 2009

Gears of War NECA Series 3 Action Figure COG Soldier

The figure is a must have for any Gears of War fan, but when ordering these figures as a collector...well, this is where the shipping fell short. The clam shell was totally crushed, and the figure came in an envelope, instead of the proper shipping box it should have came in.
