A Good StartNov 28, 2009
By A. D. Morrissey The premium deck series is an intersting idea, and Slivers were a good place to start. The cards in this deck are individually solid, but overall its somewhat lack luster. A lack of constancy and way to tutor up slivers makes this deck very random, but for a beginner that would be a good thing. If your just starting magic, the Sliver deck is powerful enough to get you started, but do not expect to start destroying other people with out making some significant modifications to the deck. Since the deck is all foils, seriously consider buying sleeves for the cards to prevent the foils from getting destroyed.
Notable cards:
Rootbound Crag
Coat of Arms
Muscle Sliver
Crystalline Sliver
Sliver Overlord

A must have for all Magic players and great for Starters!Sep 22, 2010
By Richard I'm a deranged Magic: the Gathering fan, religiously following storylines from all MTG novels, playing Magic Online, and of course believing in the heart of the Cards (wait, isn't that from Yu-gi-oh!???). With that said, this purchase is one of my favorite card purchases from Magic. As of Sep 2010, this set can still be bought for 26-27 dollars and has some collectible value in it, being an all foil deck. Also included are manuals to play the deck and a beginners manual to get a friend on board. There is a 20 sided die for those who still use pen and paper to track lives. Even the deck box is in foil, although I do not recommend using it. Buy Card sleeves for these babies if you want to play with them, or Penny Sleeves + 9 pocket pages for collectors. Many of these cards look majestic in their newly Foil version. Take the plain looking Metallic Sliver, the foil makes this 1/1 creature a gem to look at, playability aside.
Now onto the deck. I'd say someone playing tournament level may find some Slivers a bit out of place here. That is true given some Sliver has restrictions in printing. (How many of us would prefer Sliver Queen over Sliver Overlord as the Mythic? Well Wizards has limited printing for the Queen so no bueno). Players with a bit of experience should have no problems getting used to the multi-colored deck, with the variety of Non-basic land cards including Ancient Ziggurat, Vivid Creek, and Vivid Grove. The deck has 30 creatures, 5 spells, and 25 lands. I threw out some of the weaker Slivers such as Armored Sliver and Barbed Slivers in place for some artifacts and mana boost cards as well as other modifications.
I'd say this deck is very strong for competitive play. I only replaced 20 cards and ended up with your boring 24 creature 12 spells and 24 lands deck. But I found the right balance with this beautiful deck and have stomped mudholes through all kinds of decks. The key is not sacrificing your Slivers too early, hence I added a handful of non-Sliver creatures that can help stall or outright trample. This is a must buy for anyone who is a fan of Magic. Even if you do not play in tourneys, the collectibility of Slivers will be valuable down the road. And they're nice to look at too.

Very good deck. Especially for people who never played with slivers.Nov 25, 2009
By Varnis54 I love this deck. It is fairly good on its own with no modifications. Its also very good for people who have never played with slivers, and shows you all the slivers that where ever made in the game, and what series they are in. Its a 5 color deck, and no more than three of each card. Meaning it is a very random deck. But, with slight modifications, it can be VERY formidible to play against.
IF you love casual play and/or slivers, I suggest you get this deck as you will love it.

A Sliver in TimeDec 27, 2009
By Michael Walker Most people don't see much educational value in things like Magic cards and I find that to be a huge shame. The amount of forethought required in building a deck and playing that deck properly is utterly astounding. The development of math skills as a player attempts to form the perfect ratio of lands to creatures to non-creature spells. These cards themselves even help integrate the player into an entire universe. The stories that accompany the cards tend to be fantastic pleasures that help push the player towards reading.
I used to hate slivers as a child but as I grew older I became fascinated with them. Forces of nature that seem to act separate from any preordained system of morality or thought. While it is true they have queens and overlords that may direct their cause, at their heart they are a magical call to the ant kingdom. Little creatures so utterly perfect at what they do...at least in many cases.
These cards are entirely holofoil which also adds a level of visual pleasure that many people don't get to properly see, the artwork really pops this way. It also comes in a very attractive package that I haven't even thrown away. The dice is a great addition and helps keep track of life.
Overall I hope MTG stays around for many years to come. It has provided me with endless volumes of thoughts that have in themselves inspired me mathematically, psychologically, and creatively. When I am finally published there will certainly be a special thanks to Wizards of the Coast and their team of wonderful creative minds.
If you get this at a fair price it'll make you very happy. If not building a deck from scratch is equally satisfying.
I would hope that anyone who buys these becomes as inspired as I have by the franchise over the last decade.

Slivers are amazingApr 08, 2010
By J. Jessie I had just gotten started with Magic a few months ago and had been playing a sturdy Green deck and alternating between that and a Massive control deck. I rummaged through some stuff and found a slivers deck that my friend gave me and I started using it and amazingly I have yet to lose with it. The cards really compliment each other and as the game drags farther along my deck gets stronger while most decks get weaker. Here is the decklist I am currently using with the slivers....
Creatures:
3 Acidic Sliver
2 Amoeboid Changeling
3 Crystalline Sliver
2 Frenzy Sliver
2 Fury Sliver
3 Gemhide Sliver
1 Heart Sliver
1 Homing Sliver
3 Metallic Sliver
3 Might Sliver
2 Muscle Sliver
3 Necrotic Sliver
1 Quick Sliver
1 Sliver Overlord
2 Spectral Sliver
1 Spined Sliver
2 Winged Sliver
Land:
2 Ancient Ziggurat
5 Forest
2 Island
3 Mountain
2 Plains
1 Rootbound Crag
2 Rupture Spire
2 Swamp
2 Terramorphic Expanse
2 Vivid Creek
2 Vivid Grove
